Description

The Taxation Institute of Hong Kong (“TIHK”) organized a group of members to visit Ministry of Finance, State Taxation Administration (“STA”), Beijing Municipal Tax Service of STA and other tax organizations in Beijing in July 2023. At this session, the speaker will share the understanding of some updates on China tax policies and practice, including:

  • Practical matters of tax filings and payments in direct or indirect transfers of equity interests of a group of enterprises in different cities in China
  • Enterprise Income Tax implications of De-SPAC
  • Consultation draft of Value Added Tax Law
  • Possibility to enhance tax incentives to facilitate Greater Bay Area development
  • Possibility to provide Individual Income Tax incentives to encourage mainland talents to work in Hong Kong
  • Other practical matters of tax administration

Speaker Profile

Mr Caesar Wong, Managing Director, Acclime Tax Advisory (Hong Kong) Ltd.

Caesar is Managing Director of Acclime Tax Advisory (Hong Kong) Limited. Focusing on China and cross-border tax and business projects, his areas of expertise include tax risk mitigation, tax controversy solutions, M&A tax advisory, practical transfer pricing, optimisation of cross-border arrangements, government services and training services for executives, officials and tax practitioners. He also serves as a China tax expert witness for litigation cases at the High Court of Hong Kong.

Caesar is a CPA, CTA and qualified tax practitioner registered in China.  Caesar has over 30 years of professional tax and business advisory experience,  and worked for Andersen, PwC, EY, Deloitte and RSM. He was seconded to Shanghai in 1994 and worked at offices in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macao, Shanghai and Shenzhen. Caesar is the pioneer for Greater Bay Area and Free Trade Zone advisory, and submits comments on tax bills and policies.
