The Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department’s (“IRD”) practice in conducting tax audits are constantly evolving. With the Government’s enormous budget deficit and the pressure sustained by the Government from the global environment on combating double non-taxation, the IRD has utilized more resources in conducting tax audits. New technology has made it easier for the IRD to identify tax audit targets. Recent developments in Hong Kong tax law has also led to new areas of potential dispute but also paved ways for new approaches to resolve tax audits. Taxpayers and practitioners should get up to speed on these developments to ensure effective handling of new tax audits.
We have invited the specialists from PwC to give us a highlight on these recent developments in tax audits. The speakers will lead us through the whole process of a tax audit, highlight the changes adopted by IRD and use real cases to explore with participants the different resolution strategies. Furthermore, participants will be invited to suggest topics for the speakers to quote relevant examples for elaboration during the webinar.
