DESCRIPTION:Introduction: \nTo align with the international standards and equivalent regimes in other jurisdictions\, the Cayman Islands and BVI significantly expanded beneficial ownership transparency requirements in recent years.The updates primarily aim to enhance transparency concerning beneficial ownership and emphasise the importance of identifying and verifying beneficial owners and controllers of legal entities\, which demonstrate their commitments to combat money laundering\, tax evasion and terrorist financing. In addition\, amendments had been introduced for maintenance of register of members\, in order to further strengthen the BVI’s reputation for transparency and international best practice. \nIt is important for corporate governance and compliance officers and administrators to understand the recent key changes in BVI and Cayman\, in order to assess the required actions and forward planning\, towards ensuring that there is full compliance going forward. \n
