In view of recent development on tax regulatory environment, taxpayer may have received more enquiries from the Inland Revenue Department ("IRD") on cross-border tax matters, such as related party transactions, tax residency certificate application, exchange of information etc.  At the same time, information and supporting documents in relation to offshore claim, capital claim and deduction of expenses etc., to a greater extent, are requested. If the enquiries are not handled properly, the potential consequence could be significant including triggering tax audit case, imposing additional tax and penalty.

In this seminar, we are going to present how taxpayers can handle the enquiry from the IRD in a proper approach so as to avoid further challenges and share the recent hot topics under deep scrutiny of the IRD. We will cover the following aspects:-

l   Characteristics of the IRD enquiry

l   Case studies

l   Taking action proactively

l   Understand the recent hot topics raised by the IRD as well as the reason and the indication from the enquiry

l   What taxpayers should and should not do in addressing the enquiry from the IRD to avoid further enquiry
