The Taxation Institute of Hong Kong (TIHK) will host for the first time Asia-Oceania Tax Consultants' Association's (AOTCA) annual meeting in Hong Kong on 23 and 24 November 2006. AOTCA has 20 association members spread out in 16 countries and regions in Asia and Oceania region. TIHK is one of the founding members of AOTCA and has been closely involved in the affairs of AOTCA since 1996. The annual meeting of AOTCA is the most important regular function of AOTCA at which fiscal, economic and taxation policies and issues affecting the Asian Oceania region and the world are discussed. Every year, a member association of AOTCA is responsible for the organization and hosting of the annual event. In 2005, the annual meeting was held in Manila at which over 250 delegates attended. The annual meeting to be held in Hong Kong in November 2006 will include two half day conferences devoted to a wide range of tax related topics including: latest tax reform in China, experiences of member countries in the use of fiscal policies to attract foreign investment, fight against money laundering, transfer pricing and advance pricing agreement, and exchange of information under double tax treaties. Prominent speakers invited for the Hong Kong meeting include senior officials of Asia Development Bank, Confederation Fiscale European, Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Australia Taxation Office, State Administration of Taxation in China, Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department and many others.
